At In His Steps Ministries, we believe lasting freedom is found through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Our Addiction Recovery Ministry comes alongside men and women who are struggling and helps them begin taking the next steps toward freedom, restoration and a new way of living.
More Than Getting Clean and Sober
Getting clean and sober matters. It is an important first step toward rebuilding a life that addiction has torn apart.
But we believe getting clean and sober brings us to ground zero.
It clears away the drugs and alcohol and brings us to a place where we can begin dealing honestly with ourselves, our choices and the condition of our hearts. This is where the Lord can really begin His transforming work in us.
God doesn’t simply want to remove drugs and alcohol from our lives. He wants to transform the whole person—our thinking, our desires, our attitudes and the way we live.
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…”

Getting clean and sober gives us a foundation to build on. From there, through surrender to Jesus Christ, God’s Word, discipleship and accountability, we begin learning how to live differently.
Sobriety is an important beginning. Transformation in Jesus Christ is where we are headed.
Our Approach
We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to helping someone struggling with addiction.
Every person has a story.
We begin by listening, building a relationship and determining what the next step looks like for that individual.
Depending on the circumstances, that may include:
- Biblical Discipleship
- One-on-One Mentoring
- Bible Study
- Accountability
- Prayer
- Fellowship
- Church Connection
- Practical Support
When additional help or a safe living environment is necessary, we may also help connect individuals with appropriate outside resources.
Whatever the situation, our foundation remains the same:
Jesus Christ and the Word of God.
Discipleship Matters
We believe recovery without discipleship leaves something important missing.
Jesus didn’t simply call people out of their old lives.
He called them to follow Him.
Discipleship teaches us how to pray, study God’s Word, make different choices, become accountable, live in Christian community and continue growing in our relationship with Jesus.
Transformation doesn’t happen overnight.
It happens as we surrender to God and continue walking with Him—one step at a time.
“Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.” John 8:36 NKJV
One Step to Freedom
One Step to Freedom is our structured, Christ-centered addiction recovery and discipleship ministry.
Through biblical teaching, personal application, accountability and fellowship, participants learn to recognize the things that have kept them in bondage and begin applying God’s Word to their everyday lives.
This isn’t simply about learning how to stop using.
It’s about learning how to follow Jesus.
