Biblical Recovery. Discipleship. Freedom in Jesus Christ.
One Step to Freedom is a Christ-centered addiction recovery and discipleship ministry of In His Steps Ministries.
We believe getting clean and sober is an important beginning. But lasting change requires something deeper—a transformed heart, a renewed mind, and a new way of living.
One Step to Freedom helps men and women build that new life on the foundation of Jesus Christ and the Word of God.
“Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.”
— John 8:36 NKJV
One Step to Freedom is not simply a class to attend or another recovery program to complete.
It is a biblical discipleship journey.
Using the One Step to Freedom curriculum, we walk through biblical principles that help us examine our lives honestly, take responsibility for our choices, identify the things that have kept us in bondage, and learn how to apply God’s Word to everyday life.
The goal isn’t simply to finish a workbook.
Getting clean and sober matters.
In many ways, it brings us to **ground zero**—a place where the drugs and alcohol are no longer covering everything up and we can begin dealing honestly with ourselves, our choices, and the condition of our hearts.
This is where the Lord can really begin His transforming work in us.
One Step to Freedom helps us move forward from that starting point through God’s Word, prayer, personal responsibility, accountability, fellowship and discipleship.
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…”
— Romans 12:2 NKJV
Sobriety is an important beginning.
Transformation in Jesus Christ is where we are headed.
One Step to Freedom is built around God’s Word, honest conversation and practical application.
Participants work through the One Step to Freedom Student Workbook together while learning how biblical truth applies to recovery and everyday life.
Throughout the course we focus on:
This is a place to learn, ask questions, grow and begin putting biblical truth into practice.
You don’t have to have everything figured out before you come.
You simply need to be willing to take the next step.
We know transformation doesn’t happen overnight.
Old thinking has to change. Relationships may need to be rebuilt. Trust takes time. New habits have to be developed, and we have to learn how to walk with Jesus when life gets difficult.
That’s why we believe so strongly in discipleship.
One Step to Freedom isn’t about perfection.
It’s about surrendering our lives to Jesus and learning to follow Him faithfully—one step at a time.
Completing One Step to Freedom is not the finish line.
Our desire is to see participants continue growing in their relationship with Jesus through personal discipleship, accountability, fellowship, God’s Word, prayer and connection with a Bible-believing local church.
We want to see men and women become more than sober.
We want to see them become disciples of Jesus Christ.
If you are struggling with addiction, newly clean and sober, coming out of treatment or incarceration, or simply know that it’s time for something in your life to change, we would love to hear from you.
You don’t have to walk this road alone.
